The Community of Practice meeting series continues on 31 March with an interesting panel about how to find a perfect match between people and challenges to convert the scientific potential of research infrastructure into value for industry. The meeting will explore the growing collaboration between academia and industry and the importance of managing these interactions effectively.

In recent years, collaboration between academia and industry has become increasingly common due to the recognition, by the latter, of the value of external sources of knowledge and expertise. Research Infrastructures and Core Facilities play a crucial role in facilitating these collaborations, and Industrial Contact Officers (ICOs) are responsible for managing these interactions. ICOs act as an interface between industrial partners and the scientific staff of their organisation, contributing to industrial challenges by applying a diverse set of skills, ranging from scientific core competencies to business development and project management.

During the CoP meeting, we will discuss the competencies, skills, and profiles that ICOs are expected to possess in order to contribute effectively to the challenges and needs of industrial users. We will also explore the education and career paths that can lead to becoming an ICO. The meeting will feature experts from various Research Infrastructures and Core Facilities who will share their insights and experience in managing interactions with industry:

• Julia Fernandez-Rodriguez –CTLS – President of the Core Technologies for Life Sciences (CTLS)

• Ennio Capria – ESRF – Deputy Head of Business Development

• Caroline Boudou – ILL – Industry Contact Officer

• Anne-Charlotte Joubert – ESS – Coordinator of ENRIITC

• Angela Zennaro – CERIC ERIC – Industrial Liaison and Technology Transfer Manager

We are delighted to announce that the European Network of Research Infrastructures and Industry for Collaboration (ENRIITC) will also provide a contribution during the webinar.

We hope you can join us for this informative and engaging meeting on 31 March 2023 from 12:00 to 13:30 CET.
